Miter saws are a superior power tool to have on hand and their accuracy durability and portability render them nearly indispensable for many woodworkers. For framing molding and other carpentry applications miter saws are by most accounts the king of the wood-shop. Its hard to find the right amount and caliber of words to adequately describe Boschs new dual-bevel axial-glide miter saw. Because the thing is so far beyond awesome so far beyond any prior expectation of miter saw construction the saw stands to not only entirely innovate the way woodworkers work but the way power tools will be hereafter designed and manufactured. Truly the saw deserves a hats-off moment of silence. In fact it probably deserves a national holiday an Avenue with its name or at very least a few well-crafted paragraphs to lengthily accolade its ingenuity. These precise miter cuts are made with the downward motion of a circular saw blade that spins with the power of the tools motor. There are several types of miter saw available the standard miter a compound miter and a sliding or compound sliding miter saw. The standard miter has a blade pivot from right to left to cut miters; this saw is however becoming less popular as compound miters have more applications and are only slightly more expensive. Compound miters have the ability to bevel cut or tip the blade to either the left or right side (00 - 500). Some can bevel in both directions allowing operators to miter and bevel within the same cut (-500 through 500). There is however some variation in this so you will have to check your particular saw. Some saws allow you to go deeper than others particularly if you are using a compound miter saw. This will allow you to get another inch or so. That being said you should probably not expect to get more than six inches with a 10 inch miter saw. One thing to keep in mind is that the six inches that you get refers to a straight cut this is something that a lot of people dont think about when they are buying a miter saw. They assume that because it can cut six inches they will have no trouble cutting a 2x6 this is not however the case. If you cut a miter on a 2x6 the distance that you have to go is going to be a lot longer than six inches. If you have a 10 inch miter saw you should assume that a 4x4 is the biggest piece that you will be able to cut.
And lastly is the table extension where it balances and stops your wood. Miter saw blades also have its different sizes and classifications which are classified into three. 1. The first one is the steel blades which are normally used for plywood and is the least expensive of the three. 2. Second is the high-speed blades which are used both in soft and hard concrete. 3. Third is the carbide-tipped which is the long-lasting and the most expensive of the three blades. Those are the miter saws common features and the kinds of blades that would give you a hint on what miter saw you need. The manual miter saw are only used oftentimes by woodworkers in making frames and produces simpler cuts than that of the compound miter saws.
