Miter saws are one of the most popular most widely used power tools in the tool industry today. Because of their portability convenient capacities and overall accuracy a miter saw can be found in nearly every wood-shop garage or pickup truck. Miter saws are generally designed to produce fast accurate crosscuts into a workpiece typically for framing or molding applications. The workpiece is pressed up against an angled fence to ensure the most precise cutting angles as you work. The fence generally sits at a 900 angle but can be adjusted as needed for a particular cut. While most miter saws have a miter index that allows users to precisely modify their cut angle in one degree increments most also have capacities which allow for quick and accurate cut stops at common cut angles like 150 300 and 450.
Use a long straightedge in all directions to make sure that the miter saw and the miter saw table are flush with each other. Mount the saw securely to the shelf using lag screws. Once the miter saw is mounted you can begin to construct the fence or fences. A simple inexpensive fence can be constructed using 1 x 4 or 1 x 6 clear fir boards. These boards should be hand selected for straightness and jointed on one edge. One board will be the actual fence and the other will keep it straight from behind. The fence sits with its jointed edge on the saw table top while the back-up board lies flat on the table behind the fence with its jointed edge joined to the bottom of the fence.
Producing a virtually unparalleled smoothness of cut the tool is unbelievably precise and offers optimal operator control throughout every conceivable working condition. The new axial system completely replaces the miter saws former and comparatively underdeveloped rail system with two multi-joint articulating (or hinged) arms which appear more akin to a space-robot than a power tool. These cast-iron arms also ensure the saw remains properly aligned and calibrated despite time and unfavorable environments. Additionally the saws axial design is not only responsible for its unmatched durability and crazy-smooth precision but it also folds to sit flush with the back of the saw saving up to 12" of workspace compared with a standard sliding compound miter saw.
Blade changes are generally pretty simple so dont avoid blade switching out of inconvenience. Using an improper blade can cost you much more in the long run than a few short minutes to pop on a new blade: when cutting to achieve a cleaner more precise cut use a blade with more teeth for a quicker more rough cut use a blade with fewer teeth when crosscutting be sure to use a crosscut blade and so forth. Blade Changes: To change your blade you first need to remove the guard and pivot the blade mount cover or access plate away from the blade and remove the center nut.
