This also allows you to push the tool directly against a wall for use with literally zero clearance behind it and because the saw is insanely compact (weighing only 65 lbs) its simple to use in cramped low-space work-spaces and convenient to store and transport. In place of the sliding rail interface of former saws 12 sealed ball bearings make up the GCM12SDs new enclosed system one that maintains its integrity for essentially all-time providing the smoothest blade movement and vastly better control. Because this system is also enclosed its bearings and rollers wont accumulate jobsite debris thus ensuring it remains with a glide like nobodys business for its entire life-cycle. The thing also features a glide damper allowing you to adjust the saws resistance changing the "glide" mechanism as you see fit. Built with a totally transparent lower guard the saw additionally ensures youll have completely unimpaired visibility through each cut.
Accordingly miter saw blade changes are one of the most common tool maintenance applications. Fortunately for tool users of all skill levels changing the blade on a miter saw is easier than you might think. In fact whether your saw has a blade lock feature or not changing your miter saw blade requires only a few minutes a screw driver an Allen wrench and in some cases a hunk of scrap wood. As with all repair and maintenance procedures the first step in replacing your miter saw blade is embracing a few safety precautions. Disengage the saw and unplug it; never work on a power tool that has the potential to turn on. You might also throw on your safety glasses because they make everyone look smarter and absolutely stay focused. Handling a blade is always dangerous and particularly so if youre rushed or distracted. So keep your eyes on the prize. The next step is bypassing the blade guard.

The longer you can build it the better off it will be for you but any length of saw table is better than no table at all. My miter saw table measures 8 Feet to the left of the saw blade and another 8 feet to the right of the saw blade. This way I can support the full length of a sheet of plywood on either side. The saw table is constructed over 2 x 4 framing and contains multiple storage drawers below the table which I use to store small tools and supplies. If you prefer the space underneath the saw table can be left open for shelf space or lumber storage. I suggest that the top surface be 3/4" Melamine or Formica over 3/4" particle board.
