A deck railing system can provide the focal point for any deck

A deck railing system offers the finishing touches to any deck environment. Deck rails have always been the crowning touch to a deck.

Various choices in railing systems, however, provide options previously unexplored in decking.Decks are a great place for relaxation and sight seeing, but unfortunately, if your deck is very high off the ground, the deck railing can compete with the view.

One option in dealing with this problem is acable rail decking system. This system uses standard wooden rails with 1/8-inch diameter stainless steel cable that is high-strength and weather-resistant. The cables are placed through a set of posts, which can be created of metal or wood construction.

This provides extensive design and installation flexibility in terms of a deck railing system. The dealer provides the specifications for the installation, but the first step is to install the vertical posts. After the posts go up, the holes have to be drilled into each. This is perhaps the most tedious step in the process. The cables are threaded, and eventually, vinyl caps are placed over the ends for security and protection. The cable rail system is an excellent example of deck railing systems.

Another type of deck railing system is one that includes glass rails. Because rails can frequently obscure the view a deck provides, glass rails offer visibility that traditional decking could not. Glass deck railing systems come with several options for the top and bottom rails including rounded and square top and bottom rails. There are also several mounting options with glass rails. You can use posts, blocking, or a combination of posts and wall mounts.

Wood composite is another possibility for a deck railing system. Wood composite comes in a number of different colors. It offers several advantages over traditional wood. It is durable and maintenance free. It also offers an extra amount of strength traditional wood cannot. Most composite wood railings are created through a compression molding system that offers the grain-look of wood. Composite wood rails never need staining or painting, and they offer waterproof durability, even in wet climates. While semi-annual cleaning is suggested, it is easily accomplished through the use of a simple garden hose or power washer. There are many options for a good deck railing system.
